Supported by the hammock
Your body is held above the ground in an individual hammock, helping you become physically comfortable before the sound journey begins.
Rest beneath the trees in your own hammock while crystal bowls, gongs and grounding sound move through the woodland around you. Mayan Retreats' Lancashire hammock sound baths are fully guided, beginner-friendly and created for people who need a genuine pause.

Your body is held above the ground in an individual hammock, helping you become physically comfortable before the sound journey begins.
Lucy and the Mayan team welcome you, explain the session and guide the experience from arrival to a gentle finish.
Sessions take place in Thistleton, convenient for Blackpool, Preston, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lytham St Annes and the Fylde Coast.
After arrival and check-in, you are shown to your own hammock and given time to become comfortable. Once everyone is settled, the group is guided into slower breathing and a quieter pace. The sound journey then develops around you using crystal bowls, gongs and other instruments chosen to create depth without asking you to do anything.
Unlike a floor-based sound bath, the hammock gently supports the whole body. Many people find that this makes it easier to stop adjusting their position and let their attention soften. You remain fully clothed and in control throughout the experience, and you can speak to the team at any time if you need support.
People arrive for many different reasons: an overactive mind, accumulated stress, difficulty resting, curiosity about sound healing, or simply the wish to spend an hour somewhere beautiful. The aim is not to force a particular emotional result. It is to offer a carefully held environment in which your body has permission to be still.
Sound baths are a wellbeing experience rather than medical treatment. Some guests feel deeply relaxed, some notice clearer thoughts, and others simply enjoy the physical comfort of the hammock and the sound of the woodland. Every response is valid.
Come in comfortable clothing with warm layers, socks and water. Because the session is outdoors and you will be resting rather than moving, it is sensible to bring one more layer than you think you will need. The event page confirms the exact time, availability and any date-specific instructions.
Please arrive around ten minutes early so the group can begin together. Review the health, age and hammock suitability information before booking. If you are unsure whether the experience is suitable, contact Mayan Retreats at hello@mayanretreats.co.uk before reserving a place.
The woodland hammock experiences are held at Commando Rugby School, Thistleton Road, Thistleton, Lancashire, PR4 3XA. The rural setting gives the session its sense of space while remaining accessible from Blackpool, Preston and towns across the Fylde Coast.
Use the individual event page for current arrival, parking and access instructions. Venue details and session times are also included in the booking confirmation so you can plan your journey before travelling.

“Cannot recommend Mayan Retreats highly enough. The value for money is without doubt. The retreats are so diverse, deeply relaxing and fulfilling. Lucy prioritises your health and wellbeing above all else and words do not do the benefits justice. I usually go on my own and I genuinely never feel out of place. The floating sound bath was deeply relaxing, the sauna and sea dip were raw and powerful, and my most recent indoor retreat was so much more than breathwork, meditation and a soundbath. I have benefited so much from Lucy's knowledge, guidance and support. Her genuine nature is next level, and the quality and value for money each time has blown me away.”
“I have been on different nature retreats, beach retreats and sound bath events held by Mayan over the last two years. Each retreat is unique and empowering, working on different areas such as self love, inner child and slowing yourself down. The retreats are always a safe space to allow you to ground, connect and open up. I always leave feeling so much mentally lighter, empowered, connected and confident after being on one of Mayan Retreats. Lucy is a sound bath queen, leaving you feeling relaxed, zen and truly connected.”

A deeply relaxing woodland sound journey held in hammocks beneath the canopy
It is a guided sound experience where you rest in an individual hammock while crystal bowls, gongs and other grounding sounds are played around the woodland. The hammock supports the body so you can settle without lying on the ground.
Mayan Retreats currently holds woodland hammock sound baths at Commando Rugby School on Thistleton Road in Thistleton, Lancashire, PR4 3XA, within easy reach of Blackpool, Preston, Poulton-le-Fylde and the wider Fylde Coast.
The guided hammock sound experience lasts 90 minutes. Allow additional time to arrive, check in and settle into your hammock before the sound journey begins.
No. Lucy and the Mayan Retreats team explain what will happen and guide the entire session. You are not expected to meditate in a particular way.
Wear warm, comfortable layers suitable for woodland conditions. Even on a mild evening the temperature can fall while you are still, so socks and an extra layer are useful.
Each hammock has a maximum user weight of 500 lb (227 kg). The experience is recommended for ages 12 and over, and every guest needs their own hammock.
The team monitors conditions and will contact booked guests if a session needs to be adjusted or postponed. Follow the event page and booking communications for the latest information.
