Retreat story
About the retreat
This Mayan thermal journey is a space to pause, breathe, and reconnect through the elements. Guided by the deep warmth of the wood-fired sauna and the cleansing energy of the sea, this experience is designed to help you slow down, come back into your body, and move through heat, breath, cold water, and stillness in a safe and supported way.
The sauna is wood-fired and can reach temperatures of up to 90°C, creating an intense but grounding heat that supports deep relaxation, circulation, and release.
Your session lasts around one hour. You will begin with approximately 10 minutes in the sauna, allowing your body to warm, soften, and settle. From there, Lucy will guide you gently towards the sea for a calm, controlled dip. There is no pressure to rush or push yourself. Lucy is trained in cold water therapy and will support you with simple breathing techniques, helping you enter the water slowly and safely.
You will then return to the sauna for another round of warmth before moving through further guided dips and sauna sessions. Across the sauna rounds, Lucy may include meditation, mindfulness practices, gentle breathwork, and sharing circles, creating space for reflection, grounding, and connection.
This is not about endurance or forcing the body. It is about listening, softening, and working with the elements in a way that feels steady, respectful, and nourishing.
